This is what was on my mind. If you can decipher my horrendous handwriting, the dreaded phone call refers to my best friend informing me that her family was definitely moving roughly two-and-a-half hours away to Daretown, NJ. Two-and-a-half hours away might as well be the moon when you’re still two years away from your driver’s license. I was more than a little melodramatic here, but her departure was the defining event of my high school years and served as the inspiration for Hope moving to Tennessee in Sloppy Firsts.
